Jess will be Presenting at the Hydrogen and Carbon Capture Technology Expo & Conference North America
We are excited for Jess to take center stage at Hydrogen and Carbon Capture Technology Expo & Conference North America, which will be held at the NRG Center June 25th – June 26th. Jess Kozman, Senior Principal Consultant, will be doing two presentations: Overcoming the Challenges of Hydrogen Storage in Salt Caverns and Overcoming the challenges of geological CO2 storage.
Overcoming the Challenges of Hydrogen Storage in Salt Caverns, presented by: Jess Kozman, Senior Principal Consultant of Katalyst Data Management (June 25th 4:20 PM to 5:00 PM)
Digital data plays a critical role in assessing geologic and geochemical conditions that determine the suitability of salt domes for various uses (e.g., storage, carbon sequestration). This data can support AI-driven decision-making, helping identify patterns, reduce uncertainties, and improve predictions.
However, the industry lacks standardized regulations for monitoring data submission and ensuring transparency, which affects public trust in assessments of geologic risk.
Managing this data involves significant costs related to storage, retention, and efficiency, especially as data volumes grow.
Despite these challenges, legacy data remains valuable—it can enhance long-term (decadal) models and improve predictability when integrated effectively with modern datasets.
Overcoming the challenges of geological CO2 storage, presented by: Jess Kozman, Senior Principal Consultant of Katalyst Data Management (June 26 3:15 PM to 4:00 PM)
Legacy data is more abundant and accessible in depleted oil fields compared to deep saline reservoirs, offering a significant advantage in site assessment and modeling.
Continuous monitoring over decades presents data challenges, including consistency, quality control, and long-term data management.
There’s a need to front-load data collection during the site assessment phase to better understand risks early on, reducing uncertainties and supporting safer, more informed decisions over the project’s lifetime.
